Op vrijersvoeten gaan
Waar ook ter wereld, overal komt men gebak tegen met de liefde als thema. De verliefden worden meestal rijkelijk uitgedost, gekleed als prins en prinses, als koning en koningin of als herder en herderinnetje.
Bijna altijd wordt er een vogel in een kooitje afgebeeld als symbool van de liefde. Ook bloemen horen standaard op het liefdesgebak.
De vrouwenfiguur werd vroeger veelal begeleid door een roos, een doorboord hart of een bloemenkrans.
De verliefde jongeman trok er gewoonlijk op uit met zijn hond, geweer of lans op de schouder, en droeg daarbij de meest onwaarschijnlijke hoofddeksels.
